Stock has been cracked at the grip and recently repaired to stabilize. Forend wood is solid, with ebony tip inlay and viable fine checkering. Action colors stand at about 40% and appear original. The barrel twist pattern remains largely intact but browning overall. CONDITION: Bores are bright and absent pitting. The butt plate screw heads are also engraved. Engraving is highlighted by a well-executed pointer (left), a setter (right) and pair of woodcock (trigger guard), all in turn supported by a bordered and scroll pattern that extends over the entire action, surrounds the forend release button and continues along the length of the tangs. Chambers are 2.75 inches and chokes are F/F. His initials are also engraved in an oval on the toe line. A leather takedown case with the good doctor’s nameplate has survived all these years to be included.
